Addictive Behavior & Health Studies Research Group
School of Public Health, Department of Health Behavior
University of Alabama at Birmingham
|
We are a dedicated and experienced research group at the University of Alabama
at Birmingham (UAB) in the School of Public
Health. You may have heard about our research projects advertised on
television, radio, or in print in your area. Our research group is headed
by Dr.
Jalie Tucker, Ph.D., M.P.H., Professor and Chair of the Department of
Health Behavior at UAB. Dr. Tucker has been conducting research with substance
users for over 25 years. Our faculty investigators and research staff members
bring expertise from many fields, including psychology, behavior analysis,
anthropology, health education, counseling, and biostatistics, to investigate
how alcohol and drug use and related risk behaviors develop and resolve.
Our past and present studies have been variously funded by the National
Institute on Alcohol and Alcohol Abuse (NIAAA) and the National Institute on
Drug Abuse (NIDA) of the National Institutes of Health (NIH), and the Centers
for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). We are currently conducting two
studies on recovery from problem drinking that are funded by the NIAAA.
