  • Problem Drinking Study
Recovery and Help-Seeking Processes in Problem Drinkers

Researchers at UAB are interested in interviewing people who have recently cut back or stopped drinking in a problem manner on their own.  We are looking for people who have never received formal treatment or extensively used self-help groups like Alcoholics Anonymous (A.A.) for their drinking problems. If this fits you, you may be able to provide valuable information that may help design future services for problem drinking.  If you are eligible, we will schedule an in-person interview at a time and place that is convenient for you and then track your progress by telephone and interviews for 2 years.

  • HIV Telehealth Study
Telehealth Assessment of Risk Behaviors in Rural HIV+ Substance Users

    For this study,
researchers at UAB are collaborating with the Health Services Clinic (HSC) in Anniston, Alabama.  We are interested in interviewing HIV+ patients
about their health behaviors and then monitoring them by telephone for several weeks. If you are 19 years of age or older, are a patient at HSC or a satellite clinic of HSC and are sexually active, you may be eligible for this study. If you are willing to participate, please call us toll-free at 1-866-832-0100, ext. 146 or at (256) 452-2315 if you are in Anniston. We believe you may be able to provide valuable information that may help others.  If you are eligible, we will schedule an in-person interview at a time and place that is convenient for you and then track you by telephone and interviews for the next 4-6 months.  All interviewed participants are reimbursed for their time and effort.
